Announcement

I am delighted to announce that I have been promoted to Vice President of The Society of Graphic Fine Art (The Drawing Society), alongside my colleague Lynda Clark, at the recent AGM (18th November 2023). I will also be continuing my role as curator, responsible for working out the picture hanging and any 3D arrangements for the SGFA national open exhibitions at The Mall Galleries.

I have served on the SGFA council for nearly 8 years. I have also been on various other art committees for over 12 years; my journey started with South East Open Studios in 2011, then I became part of the Pure Arts Group team, helping to plan and put up the annual exhibitions at the Powdermills, using my design background to design and build any display items required. I am also as a founding member of the local Artists of the Rother Valley group, part of the Tenterden Gallery committee (pop up gallery) and subsequently a founding member of Tenterden Artists, again helping to plan and put up exhibitions, using my design background to design and build any display items required.

When I started, I had no idea where the journey would take me. Where next I wonder…

Founded in 1919, the SGFA promotes fine drawing skills in both traditional and contemporary media. Today there are more than 160 elected members of the SGFA across the UK — professional artists from all areas of the art world who work in all drawing and printmaking media.

The Society organises events through the year, culminating in the Annual Open Exhibition with outstanding drawings by some of Britain’s finest professional artists, members and non-members alike. The Society also stages regional members-only exhibitions.

The SGFA is funded solely by members’ subscriptions and is governed by an elected Council which meets regularly to administer its affairs. Membership applications are welcome and are reviewed once a year
